Fuel and intake side faults

Problems are annoying when they appear suddenly and prevent you from driving. However, often the problem is much smaller than you might think. In the best case scenario, they can be fixed the same day. On this page, we'll explain some common problems, what causes them, and how to fix them.

Fuel is leaking from the overflow hose

Possible causes: Needle valve stuck/worn - Carburetor lift too high

Solution: Open the carburetor, clean or replace the needle valve if it looks worn. Check the carburetor float standard height and adjust to the correct height.

The bike is running too hot.

Possible causes: Nozzle too small - Air leak on the suction side

Solution: Try replacing the carburetor with a larger main jet. Spray brake cleaner spray into the intake manifold while the bike is running and if the sound changes, there is an air leak.
